Position Overview

Seeking a hands on, people focused 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to lead our manufacturing operations during the second shift. This role oversees daily production, ensures adherence to safety and quality standards, and drives a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, able to lead diverse teams, and experienced in Lean Manufacturing principles including 5S, Standard Work, and Variation Reduction.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, motivate, and evaluate 2nd shift production employees.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, high-performance culture.
  • Address attendance, performance, and behavioral issues in partnership with HR.
  • Promote effective cross training and skill development.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, safety, and PPE requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety checks, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Lead Daily Management talks and reinforce safe behaviors and practices.

Production Execution

  • Execute and manage the production schedule to meet targets for throughput, efficiency, and downtime.
  • Develop and monitor performance conditions to identify/resolve issues quickly (jidoka/andon).
  • Ensure proper line changeovers, startups, and shutdowns following Standard Work.

Quality & Documentation

  • Enforce company quality standards and maintain quality manufacturing processes
  • Partner with QC to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate production, scrap, and quality records via Daily Management.

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply Lean tools including:
    • 5S workplace organization
    • Standard Work creation and adherence
    • Variation Reduction to minimize process variability
  • Participate in Kaizen events and root-cause problem solving.
  • Sustain and improve Lean systems across the shift.

Cross Functional Communication

  • Provide clear, accurate shift handoffs to 1st shift supervisor.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Planning teams.
  • Communicate staffing, equipment, and material needs proactively.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, equipment, and workflow.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing fundamentals, including 5S, Standard Work, and variation reduction.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work the full 2nd shift schedule and weekend overtime as needed.

Preferred Skills

Preferred

  • Experience with continuous improvement programs or Kaizen methodologies.
  • Background in food, packaging, chemical, automotive, or related manufacturing industries.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying conditions.
