Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite, Exempt

 

Position Overview

The Quality Control Technician Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, overseeing, and enforcing quality control standards at the Calhoun, Georgia plant. This position manages ISO system compliance and the SCM complaint system for the Calhoun and Apex locations. This role supports all phases of the production lifecycle, from evaluating raw materials and in-process materials to inspecting finished products against target specifications. Responsibilities include laboratory testing, measurements, chemical analysis, product launch documentation, defect analysis, root cause analysis, and complaint coordination. Travel is required to the Apex facility, third-party logistics warehouses, customer locations, and, in some cases, international Stahl sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, oversee, and enforce quality control standards for the Calhoun plant.
  • Manage ISO systems and compliance for the Calhoun and Apex locations, including US Performance Coatings quality systems.
  • Conduct routine testing of raw materials, in-process materials, samples, and finished products at production, shipping, and receipt stages.
  • Perform chemical analyses, measurements, inspections, and other assessments to verify conformance with product specifications.
  • Complete, interpret, document, and retain required quality reports accurately and on time.
  • Log quality and product issues in Stahl’s ISO quality platforms, including SCM and CORE.
  • Coordinate SCM complaints and support defect analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate test results promptly to account managers following review with the Operations Manager.
  • Troubleshoot quality concerns and review basic product specifications.
  • Inspect, calibrate, and maintain laboratory and plant quality-testing equipment, accessories, and calibration records in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment to support safe, reliable, and compliant operations while maximizing production and minimizing interruptions.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in and around the laboratory.
  • Package and label samples and shipments in accordance with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Follow all Stahl USA safety, health, and environmental procedures outlined in the SH&E Manual.
  • Collaborate with the Global Quality Team and Global Quality Management.
  • Support the North America Performance Coatings team with product launch documentation requirements.
  • Attend and manage pilot batches of new products.
  • Assist with plant production activities as needed.
  • Operate a powered industrial truck or other plant equipment, as authorized and required.
  • Travel to the Apex facility, third-party logistics warehouses, customer locations, and international Stahl sites as business needs require.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SAP.
  • Knowledge of supplier quality processes and tools, including AP/QP, FMEA, 8D, and PPAP.
  • Experience managing ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, documentation, calibration records, complaints, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Experience with chemical manufacturing, laboratory testing, product launches, defect analysis, and root cause analysis.
