WHAT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: 

Responsible for formulating and evaluation of water based flexographic, gravure, lithographic coatings for graphic arts industry.

Support our day-to-day technical requirements: customer inquiries, analytical testing protocol, regulatory compliance, raw material review/selection, Quality Management. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Independently conducts application testing of various products according to standard test methods or coating experiments designed by others.
    • Responsible for the successful completion of product development projects in a timely fashion, while following the department guidelines and priorities as set by the supervisor.
    • Properly operates all the equipment and lab apparatus in a safe and clean manner.
    • Accurately records, organizes and communicates results/data from experiments and testing.
    • Performs necessary analysis of data, draws conclusions based on testing results and makes recommendations of products for customers.
    • Effectively participates in troubleshooting and technical support for sales team and customers.
    • Properly maintains lab areas, storage areas and equipment.
    • Responsible for following all applicable waste handling procedures.
    • May provide technical training to others.
    • Recommends and performs short and long term research assignments related to new product development, characterization and laboratory testing.
    •  Manages daily customer inquiries and responds in a timely manner
    • Act as a resource for the Technical Service Group, Quality Control and Production
    •  Follows all applicable requirements of ISO 9001.
    •  Other duties as assigned

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

     

    • BS degree (or higher) in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science and/or  minimum 5-years work experience in a development laboratory or specialty chemical technical center.
    • Strong laboratory skills and ability to work on multiple tasks and projects.
    • Ability to follow all safety, environmental and regulatory policies and conduct tests and assignments in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
    • Requires an aptitude to use and maintain sensitive test equipment, Moccon, COBB, COF equipment, Sutherland rub, Brookfield, etc.
    • Ability to effectively work on individual efforts with moderate supervision and in a team environment.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills, reporting of test results in documentation.
    • Background in Graphic Arts industry or water based coating applications is a plus. 

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

     

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
